165 days since day one

So this picture is from awhile back but I just received it the other day. This is from Mt. Phelps in the high peaks in NY. What a view huh? In the picture are some of my high quality friends.

The past few days have been fun. Everyday at work is interesting though. Working with CN and JN bring good times. Having a little EN bouncing around adds another dimension.

The world can be a sad sad place. I had the oppurtunity to work with a group this week that makes that statement very true. What possesses a 12 year old girl to curse, dress inappriately, have her belly button pierced along with her tongue, and altogether have the worst attitude you could possibly imagine? These people need Love. Working with middle school and high school students is a whole lot of fun. The 4 hours I had with this group was a very stressful (yet encouraging) time. It is a joy to see improvement by the time they leave. Love, bring these children on STEP; please.

Yesterday I went hiking about 10 miles. The place we hiked was about an hour and half away. I did not drive. My friend tried to kill me twice. I always say girls are bad drivers. Jesus kept me alive, that and my yelling at the driver. Thank you! Hiking was enjoyable; pretty colors.

For those of you who read really fast and wish I had written more, I am sorry, I would rather be doing other stuff right now, which I am off to do.

You know my legs are getting tired? I have been backed off this cliff for some time now, but I have yet to move. I have not had the "ok" to take the step back and I dare not come back up on level ground. That is ok, my legs are getting stronger.

Enjoy the hour, each and every one!

high quality friends

Dear You,
I have not written to you in awhile. I apologize for my laziness. I guess I just have not had much to write to you. This letter will include some random thoughts and about a 7 day history lesson on my life. Proceed with caution...

I went home for apple butter day last Friday, it rained.
Saturday was apple butter day. It rained then too, but apple butter is good, and now that I think about it, I remember I have 4 jars banging around in the backseat of my car. I came back to this place Sunday evening and got to hear some beautiful singing during some beautiful worship. Monday I worked up in the sticks with a church group that was a lot of fun. They loved what we did, and I was entertained working with CN for the first time in awhile. Working with a veteran is encouraging sometimes. Not that CN has it all figured out, but he is good at the object lesson/moral teaching thing we like to call debriefing.
Tuesday I traveled back to PA to a place I call Henry's Bend to climb. HC people call it Panther Rocks. It did not rain on Tuesday.

Wednesday was the start of a long day. Not a busy day, just a long one. I came to work and got ready for a trip, then I went back to my sleeping place and packed my bags while watching ahhhhhhhh Gillmore Girls. (my bosses fault) Then off to the ADK's to backpack for 4 days.

The trip was fun. I got to drive, which I really enjoy. It rained on the way up in the dark. It rained hiking in Thursday morning. It rained Thursday while hiking up Phelps. It rained Thursday during dinner. Friday morning it was raining. It rained through avalanche pass, it rained while going up Mt. Colden. It rained coming down Mt. Colden. It rained while singing 100 bottles of water on the wall. It rained while HB "danced" to that song. It rained Friday night. It rained in our lean-to. It was humorous to watch HB and SN plug holes in the lean-to. Being tired and cold provides many laughs. It rained Saturday morning. It rained while swimming up Mt. Marcy. It rained while we hiked down. The waterfalls in the rivers disguished as trails were pretty. It rained on the way down the long way home. It rained Saturday night. It rained Sunday morning during the hike out. It rained during all 37 appoximate miles of the trip. I LOVED THIS TRIP. It was one of the best trips I was on. Where else can you play with friends outside for 4 days? Where else can you scream your lungs out singing worship/camp and silly songs while hiking? Where else can you not need a watch, just someone to wake you up in the morning? Where else can you be entertained by just listening to someone speak about themselves all the time? HUH? Why did I love this trip? Answer me that!!! I LOVED THIS TRIP!

Monday was sleep till 9. More GG till 11ish. Then work for awhile. Now back to my sleeping place to finish 3 episodes of GG.

I wrote some during the trip, but you will never hear it, not at least right now, maybe someday. Someday!

I apologize if this letter was really long.

loveistly,

me

p.s. if you read this please leave me a post...just a little something

little snippet

some basic thoughts...

i-do not like i-pods.

i-pods equal anti-socialism

i-pods DO NOT foster relationships

i-pods when plugged into your sound system of your car, not so bad

i-pods and the stupid white headphones that say ="LOOK AT ME, I HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY"

i-guess i'm done for today

i-am going home :)

i-will miss houghton and all the fun activities :(

a few more days

fall colors...

I figured I'd add something today, I am not sure what, but I shall start. The first key to writing is to write, not to think (stolen from my newly purchased movie) I never would of guessed in a million years that I would be working at Houghton College. I remember a long time ago when my sister went here, I remember visiting her for an evening, and then waking up the next day to go skiing with my brother, sometimes my sister too. mmm.

Soon I get to go home, a few more days of work, then home for a few days. I have 3 friends coming home with me, a dog, and a baby. They are leaving Saturday evening though so they can come back to Houghton and play. I will stay home, relax, go to church, and then I too will come back to Houghton. Pretty boring reading today huh? No adventures in the woods, no bike crashes, no love stories, no blood or tears. I guess I will add a little something that might be interesting, but then again, I am not forcing you to read this.

A look beyong this present problem
A look behind the curtain drawn
A look beneath that stained-glassed window

It's all inside, deep within

Somewhere beyond this step of sadness
Somewhere behind the blank facade
Somewhere beneath that vacant gaze

It's all inside, deep within

It's all inside this quite stare
It's all inside the bound tight novel
It's all inside that...

hopefully the Daily Adventures will soon become more adventureous!!!!!!
